Bacchus Wine Festival at A CULINARY EXPERIENCE B & B Coming April 2008 $1499 per couple Join Kay and Joe Waller for a harvest weekend of fun, food, frivolity and wine. The weekend begins on Friday afternoon with complementary pick up at the Nelson airport. We hope you will arrive in time to get settled into your room before joining us for a wine tasting of local wines. A special dinner will be prepared for your pleasure by Kay and Joe then served with matching wines. On this first night of the Bacchus Festival we will do a special wine tasting using Riedel Glasses. We promise, you will be amazed when you experience the difference a proper glass can make as you enjoy each wine as it should be presented. We will taste four Nelson wines, using the traditional "XL5" joker glass and then taste the wines in the Riedel Glass designed specifically to highlight each varietal of wine. The Austrain Riedel company has created glasses to specifically guide the wine to designated sections of the tongue and palate. The general shape of the glass emphasizes and promotes the different flavors, aromas, and characteristics of a given varietal. We will taste a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Pinot Noir. We think the glasses will enhance your enjoyment of the wine. Saturday, after your special gourmet breakfast, we will stop at Nelson's acclaimed Farmer's Market to pick up ingredients for our picnic and spend some time shopping for lovely handcrafted Nelson products. Then we drive out to a selected local Winery to pick grapes*. Luscious bunches of hand picked Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are waiting to be crushed and made into fabulous wines and you will be involved in the picking. We will celebrate the harvest with a gourmet picnic at the winery and imbibe in the winery's current vintages. Once back home at A Culinary Experience you might wish to schedule a massage or just have a quiet stroll on the beach. Dinner Saturday night will include fresh Nelson produce, Organic Farmed Salmon, Marlborough Green Lipped Mussels and other local delicacies, all accompanied by the best Nelson wines. Sunday morning breakfast will be A Culinary Experience. After a relaxing breakfast we drive out to the Moutere Hills, visiting wineries, stopping to sample handcrafted sheep's milk cheese at a local dairy, exploring a couple of Nelson's well-known potters and stopping for a great lunch at one of the wineries. If there is time before your return flight we will stop at the World of Wearable Art and Collectible Cars. Included for each guest: 2 nights of luxury in King Beds with ensuite bathrooms 2 gourmet breakfasts 1 gourmet picnic lunch 2 gourmet dinners airport pick up and return Moutere Hills Tour Lots of interesting Nelson wines grape harvesting and lots of laughter *if picking is impossible due to weather, we will have an interesting in depth discussion with the vintner and visit some of the new boutique wineries along the Nelson Coast.
